Ms. Alexander also has experience on the health plan side of the industry\, including deep knowledge of Medicare payment policies obtained during her tenure as Senior Manager over a Medicare Advantage plan. \nMs. Alexander’s credentials include certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) through the Health Care Compliance Association and certification as a Home Care Coding Specialist- Hospice (HCS-H) through the Association of Home Care Coding and Compliance (AHCC). She is a board-certified fellow (FACHE) in healthcare management through the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds an MBA from The George Washington University. She also serves as an associate faculty member for the University of Phoenix in the College of Health Professions.\n\n\n\nRiata Bowen\, MA\, RHIA\, CHPS\, CHPC\, SSG B\nVice President MRO Corp.\nIn her role as Vice President of Privacy\, Compliance and HIM Policy for MRO\, Bowen serves as the company’s Privacy and Compliance Officer (PCO)\, overseeing the company’s compliance with HIPAA and chairing the organization’s Data Protection Steering Committee. She has more than 40 years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM)\, holding a variety of HIM director and consulting roles. Prior to joining Murtha Cullina\, Dena served as a law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court\, Frank J. Williams. Dena handles a broad range of regulatory compliance issues for health care providers. Additionally\, Dena is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and assists businesses and health care organizations with privacy and information security matters.\n\n\n\nCindy Edgerton\, MHA\, MEd\, RHIA\nProfessor HIM Program\nCharter Oak State College\nCindy Edgerton\, MHA\, MEd\, RHIA\, has 23 years of experience as an educator and Program Director in Health Information Management degree programs. She was very involved in the early days of online education\, developing one of the first online HIM associate degree programs. Currently\, she is the HIM Program Director at Charter Oak State College. She enjoys mentoring new faculty. \nShe graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Information Administration with a minor in Management from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth\, MN. In 2007\, she obtained her Master of Education degree with a specialization in Leadership in Higher Education from Capella University. She earned a second master’s degree\, in Healthcare Administration\, from Kaplan University in 2015. She has been a Registered Health Information Administrator since 1987.\n\n\n\nJon Elion\, MD\, FACC\nClinical Associate Professor of Medicine\, Brown University\nDr. Jon Elion is the founder and CEO of ChartWise Medical Systems. ChartWise was recently honored by KLAS Research as the “Category Leader” in CDI software for the third year in a row. He is a graduate of Brown University (undergraduate and medical school)\, trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin\, and in Cardiology at Duke University. \nHe is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Brown University\, and still practices Cardiology part-time at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. He has served on hospital Finance and Quality Committees as well as hospital Boards and has chaired several committees to create and demonstrate standards for healthcare information exchange. \nWith over 45 years of experience in computing and more than 30 years of experience in medical computing and information standards\, Dr. Elion has committed his career to innovations in high value services and healthcare delivery.\n\n\n\nKathy Harkness\, RN\, BSN\, CCDS\nClient Engagement Executive\nM*Modal\nKathy Harkness is a graduate of Walden University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ms. Harkness has over 28 years of professional experience in critical care\, emergency medicine\, cardiac surgery\, nursing management\, as well as\, CDI and Revenue Integrity. Prior to starting with M*Modal as a Client Engagement Executive\, she was a Clinical Director with The Advisory Board Company’s Revenue Cycle Solutions Consulting and Management division. In this capacity\, Ms. Harkness provided clinical documentation improvement expertise to the physician documentation data analysis process\, as well as\, leading over 200 one-\non-one physician engagement meetings. She served as a subject matter expert for CDI assessments\, education and implementation of new CDI programs across the country.\n\n\n\nTania Hazley\, RHIA\nCigna Healthcare\nTania is a proven EMR project strategist and a dedicated nurse. Using her nursing and HIM background\, she has helped lead HIT initiatives\, namely EMR implementations in a variety of settings. Tania has always forged her own career path. After nursing\, she choose HIM as her second career and has been an RHIA for over 13 years. She is a self-proclaimed EMR nerd who can talk your ear off about industry happenings or her two favorite shows\, Fixer Upper and Game of Thrones.\n\n\n\nGina Hobert\, MBA\, CHC\, CPC-1\, CEMC\, CRC\nSr. Manager\nBaker Newman Noyes\nGina is a senior manager in the healthcare consulting practice at Baker Newman Noyes specializing in medical billing and coding education\, provider education\, chart auditing\, billing and coding compliance\, provider-to –provider practices and billing\, chargemaster reviews\, and risk adjustment documentation and coding. Gina has been with the firm since 2013\, having previously managed the billing compliance and medical audit functions\, and conducted education sessions\, for a major New England hospital system. She was also previously employed as the director of coding center\, which provided chart auditing services\, on-site coding education programs\, and coding certification courses.\n\n\nRichard Hoover\nProvider Relations Specialist\nCMS\nRick works for CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) in the Boston Regional Office. He is a Provider Relations Specialist in the Division of Financial Management Operations. Rick is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive educational programs and initiatives in the New England Region by ensuring that providers and beneficiaries are informed of Medicare program benefits and policies. His current duties also include contractor oversight\, and serving as the Regional Rural Health Coordinator and Quality Payment Program Lead for New England\n\n\n\nRobyn Ingalls-Fitzgerald\, CCS\, CPC\, CEDC\, CEMC\nMedical Management and Reimbursement Specialist\nRobin\, Company Founder\, CEO and President\, has been in the health care industry for over 30 years. She has been a coder for 20 years and holds certifications with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) www.ahima.org and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) www.aapc.com. She has expertise in E & M coding in both the Emergency Department and practice settings. Robin’s knowledge of Medicare coding and billing guidelines\, NCD’s\, LCD’s and NCCI edits is an invaluable resource to facility and practice billing departments\, facilitating accurate claims submission\, reducing claims rejections\, and eliminating costly rework. Robin is activity involved in her community\, serving on the NH Economic Development Task force\, the historic district committee and the downtown re-vitalization committee. She is engaged in philanthropic activities\, including The Go Gray in May 5K benefitting The National Brain Tumor Society.\n\n\n\nTim Keough\, MPA\, FHIA\, FAHIMA\nDirector\, AHIMA Board of DirectorsAHIMA\nTim Keough is vice president at the New Jersey Hospital Association\, Healthcare Business Solutions where he leads the health information services consulting division. He has been chair of AHIMA’s Nominating Committee\, co-chair of the HOD’s Environmental Scan Team\, and a member of the Program Committee. Within NJHIMA\, Tim served two terms as president\, chaired the Membership and Industry Recognition Task group\, served as CoP facilitator and received the 2002 Distinguished Member award. Over the past three years\, he has been workgroup co-chair of the NJ Division of Banking and Insurance – NJHA Task Group on ICD-10 Implementation.
