While a student earning my bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and in Foreign Languages at Antioch College in Yellow Springs\, Ohio; I worked in scientific research laboratories and in behavioral health facilities providing direct patient care where I paid very close attention to the documentation! After graduation I continued my work at a lab in New Jersey before accepting an editorial assistant position in medical publishing at Arco Publishing in New York City. I later returned to Connecticut to again work in behavioral health facilities before deciding to return to college for a degree in Health Information Technology at Briarwood College in Southington\, Connecticut. After graduation from Briarwood I took a position as an inpatient and ambulatory coder at Waterbury Hospital. I then went to Hartford Hospital where I was the inpatient coding and compliance manager. Next came New Milford Hospital overseeing all areas of coding followed by ICD-10 trainer/educator for Western Connecticut Health Network. I then returned to Waterbury Hospital to build up their CDI program before finally landing where I am today at 3M Health Information Systems working as a clinical content development analyst for various components of various groupers as well as for IR-DRG. I have also served as both Director and President on the CtHIMA Board and am a member of the Advisory Board for HIM at Middlesex College in Middletown\, Connecticut.
